Herring fishery spotter planes
Commercial fishing cape purse seiner boats position themselves for the start of the 2006 Sitka Sac Roe Herring fishery opener on the north side of Middle Island in Sitka Sound. Spotter planes fly overhead to direct the vessels towards schools of Herring.
