SITKA PIONEERS HOME, Built in 1934, state home for elderly Alaskans. The 13-1/2 foot bronze statue by Alonzo Victor Lewis, dedicated on Alaska Day 1949. The model was a real pioneer--William Skagway Bill Fonda.
