Kobuk Valley National Park is 25 miles north of the Arctic Circle in northwestern Alaska. It was designated a United States National Park in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. It is home to the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes, flanked to the north by the wild and scenic Kobuk River.
