The Aurora Borealis, also called the northern lights, are a night sky phenomenon triggered by the electrical collisions of charged particles emitted from the sun. They are hurled through the atmosphere from the sun via the solar winds and appear high in the sky in northern latitudes in various colors and shapes. Alaska's northern location makes it an ideal place to view this phenomenon.
