Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is the farthest north park in the nation. It is also extremely remote, rugged, and enormous, holding the position as the second-largest national park. Many wild and scenic rivers flow out of its mountains, including the John, Nigu, Alatna, Kobuk, Koyukuk, and many other rivers.
