National Petroleum Reserve

The National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (or NPR-A) is a monstrous 23 million-acre region located north of the Brooks Range. It was initially set aside by President Harding as an emergency oil supply for the U.S. Navy. It is a land rich in wildlife and serves as a critical habitat for the Western Arctic caribou herd.
