The Richardson Highway runs 368 miles connecting the coastal town of Valdez to Fairbanks. It follows a historic pack trail from the late 1890s, which eventually became a wagon trail, and, finally, a highway. Several historic roadhouses exist along the road. It meanders through the Alaska Range mountains at Isabel Pass.
