Located along the Pacific Rim of fire, Alaska contains over 130 volcanoes, according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory. About 50 of these volcanoes have been active historically (since about 1760). They make up more than three-quarters of U.S. volcanoes that erupted in the last two hundred years.
