The black bear inhabits a large portion of Alaska, including the southeast, Interior, and Arctic regions. It favors forested areas and feeds mainly on fish, small mammals, insects, and vegetation. While black is the most common color phase for the bear, it can appear in shades of brown, cinnamon, or bluish (glacier bear).
