Marmots

The hoary marmot is the most common in Alaska. The Alaska marmot inhabits only a small area in the far Arctic. They live in burrows underground and are often seen in boulder fields. They are hunted by birds, wolves, bears, and other predators and will whistle an alarm call or shriek when they sense danger.
