The Chugach mountains arc across the southcentral region of Alaska, flanking Prince William Sound to the north. Glaciers flow directly out of this range and descend steeply to the waters of Prince William Sound. Many of these glaciers still calve large chunks of blue ice into the surrounding water in thunderous roars.
